A new blog chapter

Encouraged by my friend and fellow blogger Emily, I’ve been giving a little more love to my blog. It’s become a real hobby to write here again in the past few months and in that time it has sort of outgrown its look and functionality. Not to mention it’s embarrassing name. I can’t even honestly remember what possessed me to call it that (if you found this blog before I changed the name, no I am not telling you what it was but a change was terribly overdue.

So after thinking about it for awhile I’m making some changes. I’ve chosen a new blog design that will take affect soon and I’ll hopefully be taking advantage of some other customization available with my new blog host. Most importantly I think, I’ve changed the name. After some thought I’ve decided to go with this This City Life.

I hope the name says a few things. Like the fact that this blog is just about this life, as in our life, my life, this one experience of living as a family on this earth. It’s from my perspective and it’s personal, no professional advice or wisdom outside of my own experience is likely to be found here. And also that it’s about being a mom, a family, a person in the city. I’m only one voice sharing about what life is like in an urban centre but I can share my experiences and what life is like for us, in downtown Vancouver, raising little kids in all the square footage we can afford.

And finally life. This gives me the freedom to write about, well, anything that happens in my whole entire life. How’s that for planning. The door is open for trying recipes, boring you with pregnancy details, sharing videos of my kids eating bananas, debriefing run-ins with the playground bully, date nights with my husband, babies being born, lessons being learned, struggles without easy answers.

It’s about one life lived with a family in a big city. And whatever comes into my head, my heart or my life is what you’re likely to continue to get. I really hope you keep wanting to read that because I sure do love writing it.

Can’t wait until it all takes shape, but it’s likely to be more a work in progress than a big reveal. So for today the new name is up, maybe tomorrow you’ll come back to find my blog wearing makeup. That would make one of us.
